MAY 1, 2013 AARP Driver’s Safety Class – 8:30am – 2:00pm Driver’s Safety refresher class will be held at the Twin Falls Senior Center. The class is especially designed for drivers over age of 50. Class will help to reduce auto insurance premiums. Call Roy Killgore @ 732-5597 for information.

MAY 1, 2013 Chaparelle House Nutrition Presentation – What to Drink to keep Hydrated 11:30 am. Presentation will be talking with seniors to inform them about the type of drinks needed to keep them hydrated during the coming summer months. This information helps you understand the different type of drink options available and what is best to help maintain a healthy overall diet. Presentation is presented by Debbie Williams of Chaparelle House of Twin Falls.

MAY 2, 2013 Idaho Gives - State Day of Giving to Non-Profits – Help Support the TF Senior Center On May 2nd, Idahoans will come together for a day of giving to support the nonprofits in communities across our state. From midnight-11:59pm a share of every dollar raised will be matched with funds from the Idaho Gives award pool. In addition, the top five organizations with the most unique donors (nonprofits are divided by size) will receive bonus grants of $3,000, $1,000, $500, and $250 respectively. The Twin Falls Senior Center is participating in the day. We would like all Seniors and family members of Seniors help support a non-profit dear to their hearts. Computers will be available at the Twin Falls Senior Center to process donations and along with the media blitz on the radio, television, and having a special daylong event at the Magic Valley mall.

The Center is participating in the Idaho Day of Giving to Non-Profits Thursday, May 2nd 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Please Come & Support the Center along with other Non-profits. Special Center Entertainment includes Tom & Beryl Michael Johnson Floyd Drown Marla Garrett Computer Access & Donation Assistance will be available between 10:00 am-1:00 pm

MAY 2, 2013 Hospice Vision - Grieving Introduction Class 10:00-11:00 am.  You may not know it, but you have had many losses in your life. You have lost family, friends, and pets. You may have lost a job or retired. You may have moved to a new area. You may be beginning to lose your health or independence. What is this process of grief and loss about? What is normal? How do you get through it? How do you find the strength to begin again? How do you make use of your friends and support network? Join us for an introduction to Grief and Loss on Thursday May 2 at 10 am. If you are interested in continuing the journey, we will be meeting weekly during the month of May. MAY 3, 2013 Incontinence Information Class – RN Cindy Anton – Hospice Visions 12:30 pm. RN Cindy Anton from Hospice Visions will be discussing general nutrition, relaxation techniques, and exercises to improve bowel and bladder control. This class is to help individuals gain a better understand of the misconceptions and facts about the issue. Please let us help you or a family member understand the issue and the ways to help. MAY 3, 2013 Western Dancing 7:00-10:00 pm. The Twin Falls Senior Center is having dances with a live Band. The Shadows Band will be playing your favorite oldie tunes from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s including Country and Rock & Roll every Friday night. Snacks, Soda & Water along with Beer & Wine are available. The Cost is $5.00 per person. Help support the Center’s effort to have more events.

MAY 4, 2013 PRE-Cinco De Mayo Fundraising Breakfast (held monthly) 8:00-10:30 am. Enjoy a wonderful breakfast for $6.00 per person. All you can eat. Menu includes Turkey Crepes, Apple Enchiladas, Chorizo Cheese Eggs, Biscuits & Gravy, Hash brown O’Brien, Pastry Tray, Fresh Fruit, Coffee, Milk, and Juice. Please join us for the best breakfast in Town. All funds will benefit the Twin Falls Senior Center.

MAY 4, 2013 Marla Garrett – Special Entertainment for Breakfast 9:00 -10:00 a.m. Marla Garrett will play her guitar and sing Old time Rock & Roll, County and Gospel during our fundraising breakfast. Please come out and support the Center while enjoying the entertainment.

MAY 7, 2013 Cribbage - 1:00 pm Beginning on May 7, 13 the Twin Falls Senior Center is offering cribbage every Tuesday afternoon as a new activity. Cribbage is one of the earliest and most enduring of the Classic Card games. Cribbage is a card game for two to four players in which score is kept by inserting small pegs into holes arranged in rows on a small board. Lessons will be given for beginners. Anyone interested in playing can call Jeanette at the Center @ 734-5084. We welcome all ages to play.

MAY 8, 2013 Univ. of Idaho Extension Presentation- Food Safety & Nutrition Class 11:30am Rhea Lanting with University of Idaho Extension Service will be presenting information to inform seniors about food safety and the importance of keep food products stored correctly.

MAY 10, 2013 Mother’s Day Lunch and Recognition – Noon The Senior Center will be honoring Mothers during this special lunch. Please invite your mother to attend this special event. We want to recognize how special our Mothers are at any age. Mothers please bring your children and grandchildren to share in this special event.

MAY 15, 2013 Magic Valley Gem Fiddlers Lunch Time Entertainment 11:30 am. The Magic Valley Gem Fiddlers will play numerous selections of music prior to the Twin Falls Senior Center’s lunch. Come join us for BEEF STROGANOFF lunch including soup, salad, and Peach Crisp for dessert and enjoy this local entertainment. The Twin Falls Senior Center Board Meeting will also be held at 1:00 pm.

MAY 15, 2013 Twin Falls Senior Center – Board Meeting 1:00 pm. Monthly meeting of the Twin Falls Senior Center Board of Directors will be held at 1:00 in the Center’s conference room. Topics covered will include old and new business along with monthly staff reports. Staff reports will include a kitchen report, home meal delivery report, and financial report. MAY 22, 2013 Twin Falls Library Bookmobile – Library Card Sign Up 11:00 am – 12:45 pm. The Twin Falls Public Library is signing up Seniors for library cards. The bookmobile will being stopping at the Center on a routine basis beginning in June.

MAY 22, 2013 Tom & Beryl Lunch Time Entertainment 11:30 a.m. Tom & Beryl will entertain you with their Old time County songs. They are the main feature for the Center’s monthly BIRTHDAY lunch. All birthdays for the month will be celebrated on May 22, 2013. Please come enjoy special entertainment and POT ROAST lunch including Birthday Cake.

MAY 28, 2013 Visually Impaired Support Meeting 12:45-2:00 pm. If you or your spouse has a diagnosed vision problems, such as Glaucoma, Macular degeneration, or diabetes caused vision problems this meeting group is for you. The support group meets each month following the lunch at the Twin Falls Senior Center. The support group also guest experts and interesting speakers to help with education, peer counseling, independent living, as well as group discussions.
